News on latest Mac Bios
Just some fast posting before (trying to) sleep. This has been a weekend of extreme testing and prepairing the terrain to further builds. With the help of some early alpha testers more engaged to the project i can affirm some results about G1 boards:
Latest internal build is 0.7m:
- fully 64bytes compliant facp table written from gigabyte 32bytes sources supporting 64bits addressing.
- freed up locked pic irq for the os to manage (no changes after this… Much time to figure out where it was in ms-asl format, but now its done and works fine)
- new method of acpi table replacement, enabling it to be larger then original 20KB size without messing with the sensitive modules, what heavly increases the acpi size limits permiting the introduction of new tables from real macs in the future.
- back of UART (COM1) port functionality for other OSs
- Reboot fix
- Faster shutdown and reboot.
- Power button functionality whitout breaking acpi compliancy to Windows
- Faster OSX boot time
- Audio back to how it was at 0.7h due to masking of devices being uncompatible with ALC888. (new tests will follow, im not leaving this up to the 889s only)
Latest internal build for ALC889 boards is 0.7j
-All the above mentioned features plus the crazy results shown in the last posts, that given no audio on 888 but can possibly add vanilla basic audio functionality on 889.
For everyone:
No releases yet due to the need of packaging everything, updating the PDF manual, etc, ill see what i can do tomorrow.
Big thanks for the participants of the early live alpha testing trough iChat, you all proven that this method is very nice to the advancement of the project (5 builds in a day!!). All other alpha testers should expect alpha mail tomorrow with the results of all this, with priority to G4, since feedback has been greater and faster from G4.
For those who waits, understand this delay as quality emprovements, everything needs to run fine under ALL OSs, including Windows and Linux.
See you guys
