DISCLAIMER: Flashing your bios is a risky operation. Follow the procedures included on your downloaded zip file to use your system without risk. If anything goes wrong, this motherboard has 2 bioses and one can be recovered from the other chip. EVEN THEN THERE COULD BE ERRORS. By using these files you take responsability for any damage they could cause to anything.
All files provided until v0.7m have been sucessfully tested under both Linux (Ubuntu 9.10), Windows 7 and Mac OS 10.6.2.
For complete sleep capability, 10.6.2 maybe needed with it’s 3 energy saving options marked. .
READ THE INCLUDED PDF MANUAL FOR FULL INSTRUCTIONS!

And yes, of course this week will have MANY new releases ;-)

Is it possible to use for EP45T-UD3R?

  • bogdanw says:

Thanks for the release! I just tested it and the install went ok. Sleep is not working on Snow 10.6.2 without SleepEnabler.kext.

  • bogdanw says:

My mistake: forgot to remove NullCPUPowerManagement.kext. I installed VoodooPowerMini.kext as suggested and works fine.

Your bios for the EP45T-ID3Lr works really well, but theres one thing wich won't work for me. I can't get any connection with the internet, not with DCP neither with manually configuring the IP. It works fine when I change my network card settings to 10BaseT/UTP it. Do you know what the problem could be?

  • Cartri says:

Hugo, its a known issue on G1 boards, im working on it, maybe I'll have to edit the Network card bios (which is a module inside the bios i provide, but is untouched untill now).
For now, you can solve the 100/1000Mbps issue with bonjour using RealtekR1000SL.kext

but before trying that you may want to assure that in your bios settings you have GREEN LAN OFF and BOOT ROM ENABLED, in some cases it solves the thing without a kext

  • Hugo01 says:

Thanks for your Tip, but it didn't help. Now i Use a Kext an it works. I hope you can Fix it soon =)

  • Cartri says:

Thanks for your fast concise feedback. It helps a lot!

I have just found a new problem. The CPU FAN works faster and the CPU temperature Display me now 67°C. Before i have install your bios it display only 55°C. Any idea from where that comes?

  • Cartri says:

Yes, it comes from the major update (0.8*) feature that couldnt yet be implemented: Speedstep.
MacOSX Power Management runs a little hotter then usual once its charged, but also uses the EIST/Speedstep to slow down the cpu temperature on idle moments – even if in seconds of idling. This lower the CPU voltage and speed (Ghz) on cicles of data that does not use the extra clock (GHz), raisig and slowing many times making your cpu cooler without loosing the maximum efficiency.

Without Speedstep your cpu is running at its maximum clock (the one he announces to have) all the time, making it hotter even when not being used at all its needs.

Speedstep will be the defining feature for 0.8 releases, but apple just kicked our ALC888 from the system so i halted on speedstep to make a new version that will bring alc888 back to how it was, without the need of a patched AppleHDA (but still needing a legacy for now) pairing with ALC889a who has not been blacklisted.

For now, you can achieve the functionality of SpeedStep with a kext named VoodooPowerMini. Be sure to have it on its latest version on your extra extensions folder if you want to have this functionality.

    Hey Cartri,

Thank you so much for your excellent work! I'm a bit new to the OSx86 community (and picking things up quickly, I think?), but I'm having trouble figuring out the audio thing. I have this board, with your BIOS flashed, and can't seem to figure out which file(s) I need… There are plenty (too many) links involving LegacyHDA.kext on google, but I'm not sure where to get the right one… I downloaded one that came with a set of 4 different versions (4 out, 2 in, etc) and tried that, but no go. Audio connection info shows up in System Profiler, but no output/input devices in Sound System Preferences. Running 10.6.3, no DSDT AFAIK.

  • Hugo01 says:

It would be good even if in the next bios version still have the startup sound.

  • Onno says:

    Hi Cartri,

I’m glad, finally you release Mac BIOS for EP45T-UD3LR.
But I have problem in step 4, I can’t access my flashdisk from Q-Flash Utility.
When I select “Update BIOS from Drive”, my computer say: “Not Found Any Drive”.

    Can you help me, please…?!

    • Cartri says:

Hi! You have to have your pendrive formated as FAT32 and plugged before the machine starts. Also check if you dont have many files on the drive root directory and check your bios settings regarding usb.
      Keep on the feedback!

      • Onno says:

Yes, I have to reformat with FAT32 and no other files in my PenDrive except 5TUD3LRF.07m I get from you. I have plugged my PenDrive before the machine starts.
Do I need to reset the cmos and change the first boot into the PenDrive …?!

        • Onno says:

I have overcome the problem. After I bought a new flashdrive and try it, I can access the Q-Flash. Looks like the Q-Flash can not access FAT32 PenDrive with mine. Having successfully entered into the OS I have to reinstall because QE/CI is not readable although already using tricks that you suggest in the manual book. After reinstall QE/CI worked perfectly without any audio, because I have not added LegacyHDA in the folder Extra/Extensions.

As a whole has been running perfectly, and I’ll give a donation for your hard work. Hopefully this can add to your enthusiasm for the next experiment.

          salam.. :)

  • Hugo01 says:

When will a new BIOS released a fixed version to give, where again the sound is running under 10.6.3 and Lan
    Ehternet without kext.

  • David says:

Hey guys, I flashed my GA-EP45T-UD3LR last night and it booted OK. I went to my Mac partition and I was unable to get sound using Apple HDA.kext or Voodoo.kext, which of course ran before. This morning I went ahead and flashed bios back to L6b and sound is perfect, so is LAN. No sleep.
I guess I will stay attuned to this blog and try again with v1.0?
    David

  • Onno says:

Hello, I would like to provide feedback. After the night I tried again it seems there’s something wrong. As an illustration, I make the installer SL retail kakewalk 2.1 bootloader in UFD with a source derived from Chameleon RC4 (http://puru.se/blog/?p=47).
I installed SL retail in the hard disk without the bootloader, and then after a successful entry into SL, I installed Chameleon RC4 v.3 with additional files smbios, com.apple.Boot.plist and some kext that I took from the UFD. After that I restart and boot from the hard disk. Once entered into the OSX apparently QE/CI not working, reading memory in System Profiler is wrong. Then I restart and try booting from UFD (just as the bootloader only), after successful entry into OSX I found QE/CI running normally, the reading of memory in System Profiler is true.
I do not know what the problem actually occurs. Looks like I still need a DSDT file from kakewalk for my machine.

After the new update to the Mayor Update now runs Ehternet Korekt.

  • Hugo01 says:

    Hello Cartri

I have not found a bug. Temprature display in the BIOS will not display properly.
In the original BIOS everything is OK.

  • James says:

Hey. Thanks for being so generally awesome and getting this bios together and all…

    I’ve finally got sound! Rejoice.

I have a gts250 card which is running, but no rippling when putting widgets in… any chance there’s a fix for this somewhere?

    Cheers.

    James
