    Hi Cartri,

Great work you’re doing here – a real gift to the Hackintosh community.

Just wondering if you have any estimated time-line for when G3 boards will have their BIOS’s done? I’m holding off going the more conventional route on a EP45-DS4, in the hope that soon your BIOS will be ready.

Sorry if this seems churlish to ask – just chomping at the bit here!!

Keep up the great work – and let us all know when donations will be dealt with properly by Paypal.

    Chow

Hi Cartri, first I wish to say Cheers!! for your nice and hard work.
I just give a try to your EP43T-UD3L bios and everything seems to work fine. Even there was no long time refreshing DMI to first boot, but there is something that I don’t understand.
After login to the system I have a cd icon on my desktop named Bluebirds (obviously there’s no cd or dvd in the tray) Bluebirds contains an auturun.inf and a couple of exe files. I just eject the cd, the tray opens and icon disapears, but next boot I got bluebirds again.
(this issue was not present before I flashed my bios)
I wish to know if this something knew and in this case, what will be the solution.
    Thanks again for your work.

    • Cartri says:

Yes, i have a bluebirds drive too and so many people complained about it that LG made a new firmware for it!
Just update your DVD drive firmware and the problem is gone.
You see, its always about bios… even external devices bioses

  • xzeroGx says:

    hey ho!
my ep45 ds3 with 0.7m works.i managed to get graphics working with efi string but there is still a big problem:

none of the two network cards is detected!! both are enabled in bios…

my machine runs: SL 10.6.4, i’m using:

    Extensions:
    FakeSMC
    HDAEnabler
    LegacyHDA
    PlatformUUID
    RealtekR1000SL

    in addition:

com.apple.Boot.plist with EFI String for graphics
SMBIOS.plist Model set up as MacPro3,1

i hope there is a chance to get things workin correct…i would also like to test new versions of your BIOS! so – mail me ;)

    greets from germany

    Hello Cartri, great work, really!

I would just like to ask, its a little bit off-topic. But why you kicked out the P35 series? They are pretty compatible too, 889a audio codec too, etc.

Im so jelous of P4x users =)!

    Cheers !

EP45-UD3LR works perfectly on 0.8! nVidia GT2xx – use intel 1GE desktop adapter with little PCI-ID tweak to get real 1GE performance with Jumbo Frames! Have not seen any faster yet.

Graphics Enabler of v0.8 built in Chameleon didn’t work with my Zotac 9500GT (512Mb DDR2). It works with standard RC5 Chameleon. Any help?

    Hi Cartri,

Great work, where do you and others get the time for this?

A remark about the PDF for the EP45-DS3P.

The block diagram for the EP45-DS3P is not the right one.
Two chips are different, I believe.

Also, do you have the possibility to change BIOS code to let the chip have more USB ports running under USB2 speed?

    Thanks

Hi man,you are really doing a great work here, and your stand against overDRM and Copyrightiness is striking home here; and motivating me every day.

I want to ask you why are you not working on other i7 chipsets, like the H55 which are not as expensive as the x58?

thanks and keep the great work in all your fronts

  • Paul says:

Just wanted to say thanks for all the hard work. Great benefit to the Hackintosh community! Wish I had stumbled across this website before ordering my new parts. I currently have a gigabyte ga-p55a-ud4p which appears to be on the waiting list (ud4 boards). I would be more than happy to be an alpha tester. Feel free to contact me at any time.

  • Birk Anders says:

just installed your BIOS on my EP45-UD3R…works like a charm with 10.6.4 and Win7…kudos to you ;)

the only thing is that I have one of these USB Media Center Remotes from ebay and whenever I restart from Win7 back to OSX, I have to unplug this receiver or the computer will get stuck at the BIOS boot logo. even if I plug it back in at any time during startup (DMI loading, Chameleon boot,..) it immediately freezes the whole system and I have to unplug it and use the reset button.
If I plug it in once OSX or Win7 is up, it works fine though….

can you look into that? it worked fine with the OEM BIOS. do you need anything like hardware IDs or something of this USB receiver?

    • Cartri says:

No, this was a decision of mine based on hardware and OSX knowledge in which situations like yours would happen (also happens with some high speed hubs, depending on the specification) and the benefits of having full power available for use in any situation by bios was chosen to every s3d use.
I admit it was a choice, but it really brings many benefits while using osx that should not be removed.
Mayve in the X58 cards where darwin is defined in bios i can use that to make a if statement about power management on bios level.
but for now, ours hackintoshes are still bios-level acpi OSs

  • Big Argus says:

Excellent job! Just got my GA-EP-43-ES3G w/Q8300, 4 gig DDR2-800 & Gigabyte 8400GS/512 Meg running using .8 of your BIOS & Boot CD/Bootloader. Did recommended Kexts with the addition of SnowR1000 to get the ethernet working. Used 10.6.3 Retail and just finished the update to 10.6.4. I have 25+ years on PCs, but this is my first Hackintosh. Posting this via Safari while listening to CD on it. If things work right you might see a little in your stocking for Xmas Thanx again!

    Hello Cartri,

Thank you for your work. I installed your BIOS on my EP43-UD3L and works fine, just no CI/QE with my XFX GForce 7300 GT 512Mb, but I’m waiting for a 8800GT that I buy last week on eBay.

I’m modding an G3 iMac to put in the MOBO and a 15\ LCD.

Sorry for my English and Greetings from Spain.

  • BuildSmart says:

While this is a nice idea and I don’t mean any insult cartri but the changes you are making to the BIOS only improve compatibility a little.

The problem I see is that functionality itself is not increased and that the changes you are making affect legacy compatibility only.

If you want to consider a BIOS then perhaps you might wish to look into doing a full EFI implementation and getitng away from hacking the BIOS.

In the case of the X58 based board, consider changing the SPI PROM to an SST 25VF032 and flashing the MacPro4,1 BIOS to it.

What wont work is audio and ethernet but you can dissect the BIOS and swap out the embedded option ROMS and then ethernet and audio can be made to work with little trouble and you will find that the SMC will use an unused PIC counter for it’s interrupt source and you can then program the key/value and DSMOS or AppleDecrypt will not required.

I am already looking into this and have a couple of test machines I have been experimenting with which have yielded good results.

    • Cartri says:

Thanks on your contribution, be welcome to discuss techniques and propose direct changes on the forum, in a way your ideas will be easily highlighted and not forgotten in a houndred replies.
Note that asside of the techiniques used nowadays i have under implementation many ideas, the changes they could cause to the fruit world if created in a final and free one flash solution, makes me need to consolidate a large numbers of motherboards under good compatibility with Mac OS focusing in the totally newbie public. More then newbies, we need a free walk of this OS – being bought legally – over everyone machines.
My sociological cares are not null, and are concomitant to a very interesting moment in my country government for the insertion of a full regulation over the right to install the OS on the device you want, and the ineligibility of software licenses tying them to hardware – what is in my country under the Penal code and is a Crime.

About the technical part, it is all about translating apple code to MS ASL used by award; but the fix on SpeedStep is more then welcome, also fixes for linux were made, you can even charge an ipad on a apple keyboard under linux with that.

It was nothing but a spring clean over vanilla bios, and the price of PIC modes being nulled in favor of APIC made the system just very very faster – overall, im not talking about mac.

Parts of the code are being used on newer bios by gigabyte as well as their favor in letting darwin defined at bios.

Personally, I am interested of course in going intel and efi modding, but award is nowadays the most “crude” kind of bios we have to deal, and learning on the implementation of an efi layer loader over it is being fascinant.

About X58, im using mac bios 0.8e right now on it. its a matter of time to check the capability of creating a ebc inside the bios for the initialization of the graphics.

About SMC, you are welcome to reopen discussions over its “place” on X58 systems as soon as we get the first rom dump from Mac Pro 12 cores motherboard from an update, as welcome as ill feel. ;-)
We are floating on on the same wave, wishing or not, a lot was learned about windows compatibility with mac os dsdt codes that needs to be shared.
Even real mac users might benefit

  • BuildSmart says:

Also about the LG bluebird virtual CD, you can hexedit the firmware and replace the contents of the bluebird ISO to a chameleon type boot loader virtual CD so one is not required to be on HD to boot a system.

I`m Brazilian…so sorry about my poor english!
I`m tested ep45c-ud3r bios. well thanks for God and congratulations to you, your project is very good, revolutionary, I think….
when I finished all the tests I email you to give you a feedback, this is nothing, compare to benefits that you do!

I buy this MOBO only for that ( mac & Pc ) and I`m very satisfied!

    VERY THANKS!

    Hi!
I’ve been following your work and I like it! I’ve sent a small donation, I hope others will too! I’ve managed to get hold of an EX58-UD5 rev 1.0 in addition to the EP45-UD3R I already had. I also have an EX58-UD3R rev 1.0. Please contact me if you need testing done; I work with PC hardware on a daily basis.

    Keep up the good work!
